Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Linux System Administrator to join our growing IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based systems and servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and applications across various environments.
  • Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including configuration files, installation procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Coordinate with the development and operational teams to optimize system performance and resolve system issues.
  • Implement system backup and recovery procedures.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, and anti-spam.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in Linux system administration and recommend innovative solutions when applicable.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior system administrators.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of [5 years] of experience in Linux system administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Linux operating system, Linux kernel, and Linux command-line.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware, Xen, or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
  • Proficient in scripting languages, such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, and VPN.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong documentation skills.
